GOD'S WILL FOR HIS PEOPLE

GOD'S WILL FOR HIS PEOPLE
by mdv

Since the beginning God called His people to be HOLY.  In Hebrew, Holy  is kodesh, that means “separated or set apart.”  “consecrated, dedicated, holiness, hallowed and saint can also imply .” Other English dictionaries also include: faithful, God-fearing, virtuous, righteous and  devout.  Hagios is the New Testament Greek word for holy which was translated as blameless, consecrated and sacred by the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance.  "Holy" word is used 567 times in the Scripture.

The Old Testament is telling us;
" For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy." Leviticus 11:44
“Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy." Leviticus 19:2
" Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God." Leviticus 20:7

One migh think the Old Testament is good for those days and is not applicable to us at present. Let us continue to examine the Bible, the authentic Word of God. The New Testament says;
" Instead, be holy in all that you do, just as God who called you is holy. The scripture says, “Be holy because I am holy.”" 1 Peter 1:15-16
Now, it is very clear that up to this day, God is calling us to be holy. We are instructed;
" Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:20-22
"Those who obey their human nature cannot please God.
But you do not live as your human nature tells you to; instead, you live as the Spirit tells you to—if, in fact, God's Spirit lives in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. . . . . . So then, my friends, we have an obligation, but it is not to live as our human nature wants us to. For if you live according to your human nature, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death your sinful actions, you will live." Romans 8:8-9,!2-13
"Do not love the world or anything that belongs to the world. If you love the world, you do not love the Father. Everything that belongs to the world—what the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are so proud of—none of this comes from the Father; it all comes from the world. The world and everything in it that people desire is passing away; but those who do the will of God live forever." 1 John 2:15-17

To GOD be all the glory forever! Amen.
