EXCLUSIVELY FOR WIVES ONLY
by Macelinda Diaz Verano
Are wives really obliged to submit to their husbands as commanded to?
" Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands." Ephesians 5:22-24
The questions are:
What if the husband is abusive? a womanizer? a drunkard? a gambler? or an irresponsible husband? can he be still a good head or leader of the family like Christ to his church?. Christ has no vices so he is a good example to be followed by his church but a husband with vices is a bad influence to his children and family. That husband is blinded by Satan.
" The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. As a result, they don’t see the light of the Good News about Christ’s glory." 2 Corinthians 4:4
Because of obedience, some wives submitted to their husbands blindly with thought that it is the husband's accountability to God of his wrongdoings.
But if we analyze closely the warning of Jesus in Matthew 15:14
“Don't worry about them! They are blind leaders of the blind; and when one blind man leads another, both fall into a ditch.”, then, we will be guided accordingly.
More verses to support:
"Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you. I have come to separate people." Luke 12:51
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the world. No, I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. I came to set sons against their fathers, daughters against their mothers, daughters-in-law against their mothers-in-law; your worst enemies will be the members of your own family." Matthew 10:34-36 (GNT)
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26
" In the same way,” concluded Jesus, “none of you can be my disciple unless you give up everything you have." Luke 14:33
To God be all the glory forever! Amen!
